LEGO International Day (28/01)

January 28 is a holiday that has united many generations of children and adults who are passionate about assembling construction sets. Perhaps, for most of them, the first association with the word «constructor» is the name «Lego». And this holiday is called International LEGO Day.

The LEGO Group, founded by Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen in 1932, took its name two years after its creator began producing wooden toys. It was formed from the initial letters of the slogan «leg gotd», meaning literally «play well».

The LEGO trademark was registered in Denmark in 1954. The central office of the company was the city of Billund in Denmark. It is located here and currently along with the world's largest Legoland (dat. Legoland — « LEGO» Country) — is a recreation and entertainment park, a city built entirely from LEGO elements and opened in 1968. By the way, today there are eleven «Legolands» in the world, located in different countries of the world, and 4 more are being built.

The company managed to create a product aimed at different ages, without strictly linking the basic principle and element to the gender of the child, although in the modern LEGO catalog there are separate series intended for boys and girls. The company's products have maintained throughout their history a consistently high quality standard, distinguishing LEGO constructors from analogues and fakes. For most LEGO — children, this is an interesting, very often desired gift that evokes always enthusiastic emotions and brings joy.

The start of production of the designer was preceded by the start of production of plastic toys in 1947. And in 1949, an early version of the famous LEGO designer appeared. It was based on modernized bricks from the English company Kiddikraft. At that moment, only the highest quality standard laid down by its creator allowed the company to compete with traditional wooden construction sets and society's ideas about what a children's toy should be. Almost 10 years later, on January 28, 1958, the company patented a modern LEGO brick, which is used as the basis for all of the company's currently produced construction sets. At the same time, a new material was chosen for the — ABS plastic design elements. It was this date that began to be celebrated as International LEGO Day.

The company changed its logo many times (most recently in 1998), but remained true to its original principles: high quality and versatility. All elements of the designer are absolutely complementary; they are made of environmentally friendly, hypoallergenic materials. According to some reports, the designer even contains a substance that allows you to detect an element accidentally swallowed by a child on an X-ray.

Designers allow you to develop a creative imagination, give your child the opportunity to imagine himself in the role of an architect, a designer of cars and airplanes, organize games completely built on the basis of assembled designer models, and the versatility of the elements gives unlimited scope for the implementation of the most unusual fantasies and projects, creativity, where the limiter is only the number of available bricks. Adults who take part in assembling the construction set with children often hang out « for a long time and cannot tear themselves away from the construction set with bright step-by-step instructions, which can arouse interest and passion even among them.

In the modern world of gadgets, live gaming acquires much greater value. Working with design elements allows you to develop a child’s fine motor skills, attentiveness, perseverance, patience, imagination, imagination, and successful completion of the — process increases self-esteem.

Today, the company's catalog consists of a variety of series of construction sets of different age, sexual orientation, as well as different levels of complexity: from simple sized sets for the youngest children to sets that contain microcontrollers, sensors and electric motors that can captivate even an adult. All of them are also divided into thematic groups. The range of sets is constantly growing. All are produced in factories and production lines in Denmark, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Mexico.

The popularity of the designer is such that several sets from his assortment even went into space in 2011. Among the achievements of LEGO enthusiasts, it is worth mentioning a huge 1:1 scale model of the aircraft, created in 2013, a tower more than 34 meters high, and a railway about 4 kilometers long. The designer formed the basis of a number of animated projects based on existing films, where the setting and acting characters are — elements and animated Lego figures.
