International Choreographer's Day (09/01)

January 9 is International Choreographer's Day. This holiday is dedicated to those people who carefully preserve and enhance the technique and plasticity of dance art, teaching it to future performers.

Humanity’s love for the art of dance, laid down at the genetic level, manifested itself so widely and multifacetedly, acquired such multiple forms and features that it began to require at a certain moment the fixation and preservation of accumulated experience for its further improvement and development.

The diversity of dance, its unique properties and character required preservation in order to pass on this element of cultural heritage to new generations. The gradual loss of the importance of folk dance in everyday life, along with the emergence of new types of dance art and the development of new forms, required the preservation of techniques and dance techniques. This is the only way to preserve the dance, teach it to those who have chosen it as their path, and delight those whose soul is ready to sing, looking at its magnificent performance.

The term «choreography», which came into circulation in the 18th century, is of Greek origin and literally translates as «recording of dance, dance, round dance», is the art of composing and staging dance.

In a broad sense, choreography today generally refers to the entire art of dance, perceived as a combination of two areas: the art of ballet and the art of dance. The choreographer is engaged in staging the dance of an individual performer or group. In simple terms, for a dancer he is actually a coach.

It is believed that this profession, despite the origin of dance art back in the Ancient World, appeared in the 12th century, when the need arose for teaching dance to court ladies and gentlemen.

In Russia, for a long time, dance art was represented by folk dances: bright, deep, diverse. A systematic approach to dance education was established in 1738 in St. Petersburg, by the establishment of Her Imperial Majesty's Dance School. Today this educational institution is known throughout the world as the A.Ya Academy of Russian Ballet. Vaganova. In 1773, dance classes opened in Moscow at the Moscow Orphanage, now the Moscow State Academy of Choreography.

Russia has given the world the names of outstanding performers, choreographers and choreographers, such as: Marius Petipa, Bronislava Nijinskaya, Agrippina Vaganova, George Balanchine, Galina Ulanova, Maya Plisetskaya, Ekaterina Maksimova, Maris Liepa, Yuri Grigorovich, Vladimir Vasiliev, Vyacheslav Gordeev, Igor Moiseev, Tatyana Ustinova, Nadezhda Nadezhdina and many others.

International Choreographer's Day is dedicated to the professionalism of wonderful people whose work and creativity allow people to enjoy and enjoy the art of dance. This holiday is closely related to the other two international dates — World Ballet Day and International Dance Day.
