Day of the formation of the Communist Party of China (01/07)

July 1 is celebrated in China as the Day of the Formation of the Communist Party — of the leading and ruling political party of the People's Republic of China.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was created in 1921 with the assistance of the Comintern in the process of the rise of the national revolutionary movement and the spread of the ideas of Marxism-Leninism in China, caused by the influence of the Great October Socialist Revolution in Russia. A prominent role in the creation of the CCP was played by Li Da-zhao, who organized the first Marxist circles in Northern China.

The 1st Congress of the CPC took place illegally at the end of June — in early July 1921 in Shanghai. He declared the ultimate goal of the party's work to be the construction of socialism in China.

In 1922, at the 2nd Congress of the CPC, the charter of the CPC and the party manifesto were adopted, which formulated the main immediate task of the CPC — to implement the democratic revolution. The congress decided on the CCP's entry into the Comintern.

The 3rd Congress of the CPC (1923) approved the course of creating a united national revolutionary front with the Kuomintang led by Sun Yat-sen, and decided on the individual entry of CPC members into the Kuomintang while maintaining the ideological and organizational independence of the Communist Party.

For some time, the Day of the Formation of the Communist Party of China was celebrated very widely and pompously in the country, but in recent years this holiday has only been recalled by thematic publications in newspapers and magazines and events organized at the government level. And in 2021, the CCP celebrated its 100th anniversary on a grand scale. On this occasion, a large-scale ceremonial meeting was held in the central square of Tiananmen in Beijing with the participation of the entire leadership of the PRC and representatives of various segments of the population.
