It is noteworthy that almost on the eve of Valentine's Day —, February 12 — is celebrated as International Day of Marriage Agencies.
This professional holiday appeared in Ukraine — it was registered by the State Department of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on December 1, 2010.
The idea of establishing a new holiday, owned by one of the Ukrainian marriage agencies, was picked up by many partner agencies in the USA, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Russia.
According to some reports, the history of marriage agencies goes back more than 370 years! The first marriage office «Bureau of Meetings and Addresses» was opened in London on September 29, 1650. And since then, searching for a spouse through an advertisement or through a dating service has become very popular.
Every year the number of clients of marriage agencies increases, and information has moved from manually filled out questionnaires to websites on the Internet. In our era of universal employment, marriage agencies, like lighthouses, help single people find their soul mate. Thousands of people can say with gratitude that it was with the help of the agency that they found a chance to love, be loved, and start a family!
