World Beatles Day (16/01)

Traditionally, on January 16, «Yesterday», «Yellow Submarine», «Let It Be» and other creations of one of the most popular musical groups of all time and peoples — of the legendary four from Liverpool are heard from the speakers and headphones of real music lovers. Since 2001, by decision of UNESCO, January 16 has been celebrated as World Beatles Day.

The date, of course, was not chosen by chance. On January 16, 1957, The Cavern club opened in Liverpool, where then unknown young musicians John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison began their journey to fame. A few years later, they were joined by another future «beatle» — Ringo Starr.

Later on January 16, another significant event in the history of The Beatles happened: on this day in 1964, Cashbox magazine awarded the song «I Want To Hold Your Hand» first place in the American charts, after this single sold millions of copies in just 10 days.

They worked with the usual lineup of The Beatles for eight years. During this time, they officially composed more than 240 songs, recorded many singles, released 13 albums, each song of which became a real hit, and starred in several films and television shows. Starting with imitation of the classics of American rock and roll (the four were greatly influenced, for example, by the work of Elvis Presley), The Beatles came to their own style.

The group received worldwide recognition in 1963 after the release of the single «Please Please Me». From that moment on, madness began on the planet, which received the telling name «beatlemania».

The group had a great influence on the development of world music. Many famous composers and performers followed their example. In addition, «beatles» pioneered some innovative developments in the field of sound recording and video clip shooting.

According to Rolling Stone magazine, The Beatles are ranked number one on the list of the greatest performers of all time. In December 2015, The Cavern donated a monument to musicians to the city of Liverpool, which depicted the legendary four walking along the embankment.

On January 16, in honor of this famous group, various commemorative events and cover concerts of British Four songs are held, and music lovers around the world are once again turning on songs loved by people of all ages in order to once again enjoy the work of «Bitles».
