World Computer Graphics Day (03/12)

On the third day of December, computer graphics and designers around the world traditionally celebrate their holiday (albeit unofficial). The idea of holding it, put forward in 1998, belongs to the American company Alias.

The date for World Computer Graphics Day was chosen due to the fact that it is the only one of the year that begins with an iconic combination of symbols: 3D — 3 December.

An interesting proposal was immediately unanimously supported by 3D animators from all countries. International giants such as Adobe, nVidia, Wacom and many other companies joined the celebration.

At first, 3December (another name for the holiday) concerned only the creators of three-dimensional images, but gradually it also covered all other industries related to computer graphics in general.

Now the tradition of celebrating this day in the USA and Europe is continued by Autodesk, which absorbed Alias several years ago. Its major events are not limited to just the 3D date. They take place over 10 days — from December 1 to 10 — and include master classes in different cities around the world, interesting presentations and online interviews with famous people in this industry. You can even take part in the celebration from your own home if you have the Internet.

In recent years, World 3D Graphics Day (also known as 3D Day) has begun to be celebrated quite actively in Russia. If you have familiar 3 D graphics and designers, don't forget to congratulate them on their professional date.
