Every year on June 18, Ukraine celebrates a professional holiday — Day of the district police inspector ( earlier — police ), which was established in 2004 by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The birthday of the service is considered on June 18, 1923, when the People’s Commissioner of the Interior of the Ukrainian SSR police signed an order « On approval of instructions for district observers of city departments ». But officially the holiday was established only in 2004.
In 2015, the Ukrainian police were transformed into the National Police during the reform, after which the district police became district police officers.
The — police district inspector, the person who is responsible for maintaining law and order in the areas and settlements entrusted to him, protects the rights, interests, life and dignity of citizens, and is engaged in the prevention and disclosure of crimes and offenses. He must not only possess professional skills, but also be a good psychologist, possess such human qualities as decency, sensitivity, the ability to listen to a person, understand the essence of the problem and provide qualified assistance. After all, there are many human destinies behind his work.
District Inspector — « first front fighter ». The concept of « normalized business day » — is not for him. People with their problems go to him at any time of the day. The district inspector almost daily has to consider applications and messages of citizens, detain intruders, identify drug addicts, solve crimes, draw up administrative protocols. He is forced to keep every dysfunctional family under control, to be responsible for all previously convicted and mentally ill people living in the area entrusted to him.
On their professional holiday, all employees of the service of district police inspectors and veterans of the internal affairs bodies who have given themselves to the difficult and honorable cause of law enforcement without a trace receive congratulations from friends and colleagues.
