Every year on November 22, the world celebrates a good family holiday — Sons' Day or Son's Day.
Today, almost every person knows, or at least has heard of, Mother's Day, which is celebrated annually in different countries around the world with differences in dates. For Russia — is the last Sunday of November. Father's Day is perhaps somewhat less known, but is also celebrated in various states and, like Mother's Day, has its own history. In Russia, this holiday has been celebrated since 2021 on the third Sunday of October.
Continuing the theme of family holidays, across the Internet more and more often «wanders» is another significant day, today's holiday – «Sons' Day» or «Son's Day». The history of this holiday is small and not updated by the media. There are even some discrepancies about when this day should be celebrated. In Russia and a number of other countries, Sons' Day is celebrated on November 22, although there is no official date dedicated to this holiday.
Who is this holiday dedicated to? It’s not difficult to answer: All men can celebrate Son’s Day as sons, as well as families with a son.
The congratulations of mothers to their sons, found on forums, often presented as a prayer for their son, are touching. This Day is twice as relevant for families whose sons, fulfilling their civic duty to the Fatherland, serve in the Armed Forces or who have preferred service in the Army or other law enforcement agencies to other types of activities, choosing it as their profession, constantly risking their lives for the benefit of the Motherland.
No less vivid are the restrained emotions in the fathers’ congratulations to their children, which express pride in the successes achieved by their sons and hopes for maintaining masculinity throughout the child’s future life path, which he remains for his parents, even becoming a man. I remember the words of Corporal Svyatkin — of the hero Leonid Bykov from the movie «Aty-Bati, the soldiers were walking...», when before his last fight he tells his comrades that he wrote a letter to his one-year-old son: «...I wrote to him so that he would be human, so that he would not have a chance to take a sip, what I do so that the cheap doesn’t come out of it...».
On this day, not only parents congratulate their sons, but also their sons show attention to their father and mother. Since the holiday is a family holiday, it is most often celebrated in a close family circle. And I would like to believe that after some time, Son’s Day will become as famous and popular a holiday as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, standing on a par with the dates when family and friends give each other warm words, care and Love!
