Every year since 2011, financial police day is celebrated in Kazakhstan on 6 June. It was in 2011, thanks to the decree of the President of the Republic, that this holiday was officially included in the list of professional holidays of the state.
The date June 6 takes its roots in 1994, when by Decree of the Government of the Republic a special body was formed to combat corruption and crimes in the tax sphere – Tax Police Department as part of the tax service of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On its way, starting from the date of creation, this structure has gone through many stages of reform, caused by the need to meet the changing conditions of the economy of an independent state, as well as aimed at improving work in the fight against economic crimes and corruption.
Thus, a year later, in 1995, the status of the tax police was enshrined in a Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and starting in 2005, this state law enforcement agency, due to the special importance of its scope of activity, became subordinate directly to the President of the country.
Between these two dates – is ten years, but a lot has happened in the life of the Financial Police of the Republic of Kazakhstan during this period of time. The legal status and place in the law enforcement system have been formalized and consolidated, practical skills have been acquired by financial police officers and the accumulation of experience has begun to further improve their work.
In 2014, by decision of the President of the Republic, the Financial Police of Kazakhstan was transformed into the Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption, and a year later renamed the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. By Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 13, 2019 № 12, in order to further improve the civil service system and combat corruption, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (Anti-Corruption Service) was transformed into the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Anti-Corruption Service) as a state body directly subordinate and accountable to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Traditionally, on this day, representatives of this department who have achieved high performance in their work are celebrated, presenting departmental awards to particularly distinguished employees. Taking the oath by employees who have re-entered the service is also practiced. For those already serving in the financial police, ceremonial meetings and events are held.
