Statistics Day in Kazakhstan (08/11)

On November 8, employees of the statistical service of Kazakhstan annually celebrate their professional holiday.

Statistics Day is one of the official professional holidays in the Republic. November 8 was chosen as the date of celebration, since it was on this day in 1920 that the statistics service in the Kazakh SSR was formed.

Today, work to improve the statistics service is ongoing – the introduction of new information technologies, methods for researching and recording statistical information, as well as the optimization of new forms of accounting and reporting is underway.

The principles, methods of work, and forms of statistical reporting of Kazakhstan comply with international standards established in 1947 and improved continuously from that moment on. In 2003, Eurostat carried out the first global assessment of the statistical system of Kazakhstan, drawing attention to the weaknesses identified in it. The recommendations of the international expert commission were taken into account when developing a program for improving the statistics system in the Republic in future years.

The State Statistics Service carries out discreet but very important work in collecting, processing, systematizing and storing information of various directions required by the state, first of all, to analyze the work of various industries and departments in order to optimize their work, when laying sectoral budgets, etc.

In addition to the state, international organizations and business structures benefit from the work of the statistical service. Thanks to the work of statistical accounting bodies, complete and most objective information on economic, social, demographic and other indicators and indicators is collected. It is in this regard that the work of statisticians requires precise methods for collecting, analyzing and calculating the information collected.

Work to improve the statistical system in Kazakhstan helps to reduce the number of forms of statistical and administrative reporting without compromising the results of the work of the service itself, thus easing the workload of document flow both on the statistical service itself and on its reporting entities.

Employees of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Statistical Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan annually celebrate not only a national professional holiday, but take part in World Statistics Day. On these professional holidays, the department's management organizes Open Days at its institutions, where issues of further development and improvement of the work of the statistical service of Kazakhstan are discussed.
