Day of Remembrance of St. John the Evangelist (21/05)

On May 21, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Day of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian.

Apostle John the Theologian — beloved disciple of Jesus Christ and author of « Revelation of John the Theologian». The life of John the Theologian quite naturally made him the patron of everyone related to books and book publishing.

In addition to writers, editors, publishers, and book printers, book sellers and paper industry workers consider him their patron.

In addition, they believe that the prayer offered to the Holy Apostle John the Theologian saves from poisoning, because the Apostle John himself, summoned to Rome by Emperor Domitian, took poison that had no effect on him.

Every year, thin ashes appeared from the grave of the Holy Apostle John on this May day, which believers collected and healed from diseases. That is why the Church celebrates the memory of the Holy Apostle John the Theologian on this day — May 21, new style.
