Many holidays, born in any country and having national status, over time became international (albeit unofficial), due to the fact that their popularity spread beyond the borders of the state.
This happened with the US National Day of Book Lovers. The holiday that appeared in America almost immediately gained fans in other parts of the world, becoming World Book Lovers Day. It is celebrated annually on August 9.
It is worth noting that the love of reading, cultivated in different ways, but preserved in the traditions of different peoples, gave rise to several holidays of international status dedicated to the book as a unique cultural phenomenon.
This holiday is celebrated by writers, poets, writers and publishers, printing houses and bookstores and shops, and, of course, readers – are the people for whom the book itself is created. It is thanks to the reader, who continues to keep the book in demand, that World Book Lovers Day is primarily dedicated.
The magic of the book – is a kind of special sacrament. For a person who loves to read, no matter what literary genre he prefers, meeting his favorite book is a welcome moment, and the beginning of reading a new work – is a mystery to be solved, a world to be plunged into in his consciousness and imagination.
For many people, reading is a major hobby. This hobby does not require any special preparation, equipment or expenses, with the exception of funds for the purchase of a book, the allocated part of the free time for reading it, as well as an environment that will not prevent you from immersing yourself in the world of a literary work. Speaking of the costs of purchasing a book: for certain categories of people, visiting libraries, which also join the celebration of Book Lovers Day, remains relevant.

One of the phenomena of modern life has also become e-books, allowing the reader to always have with him a compact gadget containing a huge number of literary works, which the owner of the device can choose for his electronic library at his own discretion and taste. Here we are talking about tastes and preferences: someone strives to keep up with the times, finding it convenient, but for some, the book – is certainly printed materials, a paper volume that can be picked up with trepidation from the bookshelf, leaf through, and read only in this form.
Everyone who joins the celebration of this day celebrates it in different ways. For some, the best option would be to set aside time, find a quiet place and forget at least for a while about everyday problems, picking up a book and reading it for fun.
Someone will be happy to just wander around the bookstore, buying such a long-awaited novel for themselves or as a gift to a friend.
An excellent option would be to read fairy tales to a child, for whom the attention of his mother or father, along with the fairy tale read to him before bed, will turn into those very moments that are memorable for a long time, sometimes for life. Such reading will at the same time form in the child a respectful attitude towards books, and possibly a love of reading, and will develop literacy in him.
Bookstores and publishing houses hold exhibitions and sales fairs for Book Lovers' Day. Writers hold presentations of their new works, giving readers autographs as souvenirs. This is how the popularization of reading – is one of the goals of this holiday.
