International Dessert Day (01/02)

What unites concepts such as tiramisu, grillage, pudding, chuck chuck, cheesecake, eclair, marzipan, charlotte, strudel, ice cream, as well as the dates November 12 and February 1? It immediately becomes obvious to most that this list can be continued for a very long time. All of them are varieties of popular desserts — dishes served after the main meal to create a pleasant taste sensation.

Some will be surprised not to see their favorite dessert among the above, which only confirms the variety of dessert dishes. But we will try to figure out what connects the dates of November 12 and February 1 against this background a little later.

Desserts are present in almost all cuisines of the world, have their own history, the appearance of some is even overgrown with legends, while others — is associated with the names of famous historical figures.

The popularity of delicious dishes called desserts has reached the point where days dedicated to a particular dessert have begun to appear among unofficial holidays — for example, Cake Day, Nutella Day, Eskimo Day, Carrot Cake Day, Cake Day, Chocolate Day, etc.

Finally, International Dessert Day, which unites all these holidays, has appeared. It is also unofficial and distributed primarily through fans and the Internet. True, until now there has been no general opinion among sweet lovers regarding when to celebrate this holiday. Some are advocating for his meeting on November 12, others — on February 1. The appearance of the second date is obviously associated with the incredible popularity of the cake-pop dessert, created in the USA with the participation of blogger and pastry chef Angie Dudley and which received wide distribution and recognition in 2008.

Perhaps, after some time, the date will be finally determined, although for those who are unable to deny themselves the pleasure of enjoying their favorite dessert dish, the exact date of the holiday is not so important.

It is worth noting that dessert is not always a sweet dish (cheese or caviar sometimes serve in this capacity), so it cannot be said unequivocally that dessert — is exclusively the lot of those with a sweet tooth.

Celebrating International Dessert Day involves different scenarios, depending only on personal preferences, free time and imagination. This could be a festival, flash mob, exhibition or competition, where participants present their own dessert to the guests and try the dessert creations of other participants. Social networks can also become a platform for holding competitions, where you can evaluate the originality of the design of the dish presented, discuss recipes, and simply chat about your favorite desserts. The main thing should remain that this holiday will not be limited to honoring one, albeit very favorite, dish, but will allow you to see the diversity of creative thought of confectioners and cooks!
