Uncle and Aunt Day (26/07)

To a whole list of holidays dedicated to family and friends, once opened by Mother's Day, and later supplemented by Father, Sons, Daughter, Grandparents' Days, a new – Uncle and Aunt Day was added. It is celebrated annually on July 26.

The brother of a father or mother or their sister is precisely his uncle and aunt in relation to a person. For most people, the relationship between a nephew or niece and their uncles and aunts cannot be called as close as the relationship with parents or grandparents. However, it is also worth remembering that for some, an uncle or aunt becomes precisely those people with whom it can be easier to talk about frank topics, since they somewhat fall out of the strict family hierarchy.

Many teenagers, despite the not too strong age difference with their uncle or aunt, perceive them even as older brothers and sisters or older comrades, which does not go away in the case of their parents or grandparents. That is why it can be easier for many to build relationships with them.

In some cases, when difficult life situations arise, it is the uncle and aunt who can become the people who lend a shoulder in difficult times or answer a difficult question. It also happens that, having lost parents and without grandparents, a child or teenager faces the prospect of ending up in educational institutions for orphans. The first person who can provide assistance in such a situation and take the place of parents, becoming a guardian – legal representative, are uncle and aunt. Often it is they who take responsibility for raising the child, providing him with comfortable living and studying conditions.

The value of family relationships has been strong since traditional societies, where every family member, close or distant relative was ready to help a loved one.

It is also interesting that in many cultures, when referring to an older person he knows, the prefix «uncle» or «uncle» is added to his name, although it does not indicate family ties in any way.

The founders of the holiday suggest not to forget about their uncles and aunts and call them on the phone, congratulating them and expressing warm words and wishes.
