Martin Luther King's speech on August 28, 1963, which went down in history under the title «I have a dream» and was named after a quote from a speech, prompted a number of public figures to establish, albeit unofficial, a holiday dedicated to the dream. Today it is celebrated on August 28 and is called «Dream Day» or «World Dream Day».

As you know, Martin Luther King was a public figure and fighter for the freedoms and equality of citizens before the law, regardless of race, nationality, religion or any other affiliation. Living the dream of human equality, King devoted his entire life to realizing his dream, becoming one of the brightest symbols of the fight against racial discrimination.

For many people, the first step to success and realization was a dream. For some, she is born in childhood, for others, she strives to keep her dream alive and be faithful to her all her life. In this sense, the dream acts as a strong stimulator of human activity. Yes, it is not the only factor driving a person’s actions and actions, but without a dream, the lives of many people would be devoid of purpose, guidelines, boring and joyless.

Often, when assessing the role of dreams in human life, associations arise with the work of science fiction writers, many of whose ideas, which seemed like a utopia during the author’s lifetime, were successfully implemented in the future, becoming an integral part of real life. In this aspect, the dream for many people becomes the object of aspirations and is realized in professional activities, creativity, and personal life.

The leitmotif of Dream Day can confidently be called the motto: «Dreams come true!», reminding every person that you should never hastily give up your dream. Sometimes, even the most, at first glance, seemingly unrealizable dreams, when striving to realize them, can come true. And luck will only contribute to this.

It is also important to remember that dreams do not turn into dreams that tear a person away from reality. Well, the sarcastic phrase «dreaming is not harmful» can be treated in a mirror way: dreaming is really not harmful, and in childhood and adolescence dreams are a natural part of life. A situation where a person has never dreamed of…
