Since 1985, World Fisheries Day has been celebrated annually on June 27th. The holiday was established by the decision of the International Conference on Fisheries Regulation and Development, held in July 1984 in Rome.
Fishing — is one of the most popular hobbies of humanity. Anyone who has ever been to a pond with a fishing rod, enjoyed cleanliness, the incomparable joy of communicating with nature and caught the first fish in his life will never forget this.
The process of fishing is so exciting that over time, among beginners it often develops into an all-consuming passion. After all, only truly passionate people, in order to see or feel the bite of fish, can climb into very remote and remote corners, get wet for hours in the rain or fall asleep in the cold.
In addition, — fishing is one of the most ancient types of environmental management, mentions of which appeared in the history of mankind long before agriculture and cattle breeding. And currently, aquatic biological resources are among the most popular food products around the world and represent a very important element of healthy nutrition, the source of 30% of protein products of animal origin consumed by the world population.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), currently the volume of production of the world's industrial fisheries annually amounts to about 90 million tons, of which the catch in the seas is approximately 90%, the rest is — in inland waters. Fishing provides direct and indirect employment to up to 120 million people worldwide and is a powerful factor in the development of territories, helping to solve the problem of employment and well-being of the population.
On the holiday itself, fishing competitions and various training seminars are held in many countries. The events bring together both experienced fishermen and novice amateurs. In recent years, women can increasingly be seen among participants in fishing competitions. Undoubtedly, more and more people understand that fishing — is an excellent means of strengthening spiritual and physical strength.
