Day of the creation of the Republican Guard of Kazakhstan (16/03)

The Republican Guard of Kazakhstan was created in the Republic by presidential decree of March 16, 1992 as a separate military formation and reserve of the Armed Forces.

Today it is part of the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan, called the Special Purpose Forces (Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 13, 2019 № 13) and belongs to the forces ensuring the national security of the state.

It is not for nothing that the Republican Guard is called the calling card of the country, because guardsmen perform special tasks. In addition to ensuring the safety of the head of state and senior authorities, participating in ceremonial rituals, they stand guard of honor at the standards of the national flag and coat of arms, guard particularly important government facilities, and in the event of a state of emergency they are called upon to participate in events established by the relevant law.

All this predetermines increased requirements for military personnel. Desire and physical health alone will not be enough for service here. Therefore, candidates for the National Guard begin to be selected long before the start of conscription. The dropout rate is strict. Among the mandatory requirements of — are height of at least 178 centimeters (and in the ceremonial unit — even more), secondary education and, of course, the absence of sins before the law. The conscript's family must be complete.

Honor guard servicemen have four types of uniforms — clothing for all occasions. The designers had to work hard to create a form in which national elements are present without frills. For special special ceremonial occasions — is the color shape of the sea wave, officers at such events have white jackets. There are also combined arms dress, casual and field uniforms. The technical support of the guardsmen is also excellent, but Russian-style weapons are recognized as the best.

Until 2012, the Day of the Creation of the Republican Guard of Kazakhstan was celebrated in the country at the official level as a professional holiday for military personnel serving in this military formation. In 2012, by decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it was replaced by the public holiday — Defender of the Fatherland Day, which is celebrated on May 7. But the guards themselves remember and honor this important date — March 16th.
