On February 2, the Republic celebrates Azerbaijan Youth Day (Azerbaijan). Azərbaycan Gəncləri günü).
On this day in 1996, on the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Azerb. Azərbaycan Respublikası Gənclər və İdman Nazirliyi), as well as in accordance with the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the First Forum of Azerbaijani Youth was held.
More than 2 thousand representatives of youth organizations from all regions of the republic took part in the forum. The forum defined the responsibilities facing government agencies, youth organizations, and every young person. By the way, about 130 youth organizations are registered in Azerbaijan.
The main task assigned to the relevant organizations was to carry out effective measures for the comprehensive development of youth, as well as to provide assistance and assistance for the speedy and effective resolution of youth problems.
I The Youth Forum contributed significantly to revitalizing the work carried out with young people in Azerbaijan. In 1997, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a decree according to which the day of the Forum — on February 2 — was declared Azerbaijan Youth Day.
According to the State Statistics Committee for 2023, more than 1.2 million people are young people aged 18 to 29 years (more than 10% of the country's population). An important part of the youth policy pursued by the state is the coordination of the activities of Azerbaijani youth organizations not only in Azerbaijan, but also beyond its borders.
