International advertising festival «Cannes Lions» (French. Festival international de la créativité Lions Cannes, English. Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity — is the most prestigious advertising festival, attracting a huge audience of professionals in the field of global marketing and advertising. It is held in June and lasts 5 days.

The history of the festival began in 1954, when, impressed by the success of the Cannes International Film Festival, founded back in 1940, a European advertising group selling advertising time in cinemas (during film shows) came to the conclusion that commercial companies, along with their colleagues — representatives of the — film industry also deserve the widest recognition.

This is how the festival of commercials was founded, which at first was held either in Cannes or Venice. And starting in 1977, the city of Cannes in France became the permanent venue for the Festival.

Today the International Advertising Festival «Cannes Lions» — is the largest event in the field of marketing and advertising. These are five days of talks, seminars, networking events, classes and shows for people working in PR, advertising, marketing, design, media and entertainment.

Every year, the Festival brings together more than 15 thousand delegates representing the advertising business (as well as representatives of businesses directly related to advertising) to join the most outstanding achievements in the field of creativity, discuss pressing issues and exchange experiences.

During the Festival, an exhibition is organized at which more than 16 thousand advertising works from all over the world are exhibited, thematic seminars are held, organized by the most famous representatives of the advertising business. The winning companies receive prestigious Prizes (Lviv), which are recognition of outstanding creativity in the fields of television and film advertising, outdoor advertising, interactive advertising and the best media solutions.

The Festival program includes viewing works presented in the Film, Press & Outdoor, Cyber Lions, Media Lions, Direct Lions, Promo Lions, Titanium Lions and others categories, a competition for young creators, seminars from leading world agencies, award ceremonies and other interesting events.

Since 1992, as part of the Cannes Advertising Festival, there has been a special program for young advertising creators (under 30 years old). As part of this program, the Competition of Young Creators (held since 1995) and the Evening of Young Creators are held. Each country can present a team consisting of two people, a — copywriter and an art director. The most authoritative professionals in the field of advertising from 20 countries come to participate in the jury. Moreover, you can become a member of the jury only once in your life.
