On the eve of the start of the new school year, first-year students of the Latvian University of Riga gather on Domimaya Square to celebrate the traditional holiday of Aristotle ( Aristotle's celebration / Aristotelis ), which has been going on its history since 1966.
The event consists of two parts. The first part traditionally takes place on Domomádoms, and the second part - on Sapņu fabrika. Young people begin to gather on Domská Square by 7 pm, and the event itself begins at 19:30.
New students are welcomed by faculty deans, University rector, university creative teams — Juventus choir and the Dancis folk dance ensemble, as well as Aristotle himself. Speeches by representatives of the government and public structures are also planned.
The second part of the holiday takes place in various entertainment centers or other venues and begins, as a rule, at 22:00. Various creative groups, associations of electronic music, local groups and even guests from other countries perform here.
The event ends at 23:59 with a solemn procession from Domom Square to the alma mater.
