Sevilla Festival de Cine Europeo – international film festival and an important event in the European film industry. It has been held since 2001 in the Spanish city of Seville annually in November and lasts approximately a week.
The festival program presents works by film masters from dozens of countries. Moreover, the latest European films of the season are traditionally shown here.
On festival days, screenings of feature films – are held here: feature films, documentaries, short films, as well as animated films, out-of-competition screenings and dedications to the selected director. In total more than – 200 paintings.
The festival jury, which includes famous actors, directors, cultural and artistic figures, evaluates the films submitted to the competition. The festival's awards are the – Golden Silver Giraldillo (the main award) and Silver Giraldillo (the second most important award), as well as the – Special Jury Prize, EURIMAGES Prize, Audience Award, PREXY Jury Award, Young Jury Prize and others.
The film festival program is shown at two major venues in the city: in a modern shopping complex located in the very center, and in the Lope de Vega – theater, one of the oldest in Spain, accommodating more than a thousand spectators.
To attract more tourists and entertain them, in parallel with the festival, Seville hosts several major exhibitions dedicated to culture and art, the – Seville Location Expo, EFA, Eurimages and Arte exhibitions, as well as ceremonial events dedicated to the European Film Awards nominations.
