Day of switched off gadgets (05/03)

A huge number of advocates for the introduction of modern technologies and gadgets into our daily lives are increasingly encountering counterarguments from those who see more negative consequences than advantages in this process. Even among the first group, an increasing number of people are beginning to realize that the process of introducing electronics and all kinds of gadgets has penetrated so deeply into our world and changed it that it has created a dependence on gadgets for most users.

These devices (cell phones, tablets, computers, smartphones...), if not deprived a person of the usual and natural joys of life, reduced them so seriously. And the ability of technical innovations, at first glance, to simplify the process of communication and bring people closer together actually results in the fact that new technologies lead to a depletion of the process of communication, and sometimes even to disunity.

Discussions about the problems caused by the dominance of human life by gadgets have been going on for a long time. In the United States, the first actions against this boiled down to the ideas of abandoning the Internet, abandoning the use of personal computers, laptops and tablets, as well as mobile phones (smartphones). The realization that this is unrealistic has gradually led to the idea of organizing days without the use of gadgets or the Internet and social networks.

This is how the Day of Turned Off Gadgets, celebrated annually on March 5, appeared. A special application was even released in the USA, designed to remind the electronics owner of the need to turn off all gadgets on a specific date for the day.

The organizers of the holiday and its supporters propose not only to turn off their gadgets to everyone who is ready to join the celebration. They remind you that you need to find a natural alternative to electronics: meet friends, family and friends at the table, discuss common topics while walking, turn over the pages of a simple rather than an e-book, find a way to organize your leisure time differently than looking at the screen, enjoy live communication, play with children, see lively smiles on the faces of your interlocutors, feel the joy of shaking hands when meeting and breaking up, etc.

The new holiday is finding more and more supporters and is becoming widespread throughout the world. I would like to believe that if it is impossible to completely abandon gadgets, then a more conscious approach to their use is possible.
