According to one version, it was the employees of a London holiday company in the early 1990s who first celebrated it in the form of a humorous flash mob to take a break from their professional activities. Thus, they decided to give themselves a day off and take a break from «everyday holiday worries». Such a holiday of «doing nothing», when everyone can enjoy idleness, was very popular with its organizers, and it was decided to continue the tradition in the following years.
In the 2000s, thanks to the Internet, the tradition of celebrating Holiday Day from holidays spread to other countries of the world. It has become especially popular in the field of show business workers, actors, TV presenters, animators, circus performers and other specialists, whose daily work is also related to the entertainment industry. After all, for these people the holiday is – work, and everyone needs rest. So it turns out that today’s date – is not just a fun occasion for another holiday, but also a «special day off» for professionals of certain specialties.
How to celebrate this day? You can simply stay at home, turn off communications, not turn on the TV, radio or Internet, enjoy the silence or company of your beloved family and friends. You can turn off your alarm and lie in bed or on the sofa all day while reading your favorite book or magazine. The main thing – « falls out of the festive reality» –, because the main message of the holiday is relaxation through calm and silence.
