November 3 in Ukraine is the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery ( Ukrainian. « Day of missile vijsk and artillery » ), which are part of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This professional holiday was established by Presidential Decree № 1215/97 of October 31, 1997, « given the important role of missile forces and artillery in strengthening the defense capability of the state ».
Missile forces and artillery consist of formations of operational tactical and tactical missiles, formations and parts of howitzer, cannon, rocket and anti-tank artillery, artillery reconnaissance, mortar subsections and subsections of anti-tank guided missiles. They are designed to defeat manpower, tanks, artillery, anti-tank weapons of the enemy, aviation, air defense facilities and other important facilities during the conduct of the battle.
Missile forces and artillery are the main fire force in operations carried out by the Ground Forces using conventional weapons, and perform up to 65-70% of the total mission from enemy fire.
The RVIA formations, parts and subsections are armed with: missile systems of operational-tactical and tactical missiles, multiple launch rocket systems of type, self-propelled guns, anti-tank weapons.
Professional holiday of rocketmen and artillerymen is celebrated by officers, warrant officers, cadets, military personnel under contract and urgent service, defense workers, war, labor veterans and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
