Day of Education Workers in Ukraine (06/10)

Education Workers' Day is celebrated in Ukraine on the first Sunday of October in accordance with Presidential Decree №513/94 of September 11, 1994.

The holiday dates back to 1965, when, during the era of the USSR, it was celebrated everywhere in all Republics of the Soviet Union in accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 29, 1965 (and confirmed by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 1, 1980 «On holidays and memorable dates»).

After the collapse of the USSR in Ukraine, Teacher's Day is invariably celebrated on the first Sunday of October, only the holiday received a new name — Day of Education Workers. But as before, on this day teachers accept congratulations from their students, who give them flowers and gifts, organize concerts, draw colorful wall newspapers and, according to tradition, hold Self-Government Day in many schools.

The structure of education in Ukraine has the following form: preschool education, secondary education, out-of-school education, vocational education, higher education, postgraduate education, graduate school, doctoral studies, self-education.

Today, education workers in Ukraine are — teachers, educators, industrial training masters, scientific and pedagogical workers and managers.
