Science Day of Kyrgyzstan is celebrated annually on November 10 and is timed to coincide with World Science Day for Peace and Development.
Established by Decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic №18 of January 14, 2002, attaching great importance to the role of science and scientists in creating a sustainable society, in order to rationally use the achievements of science for the benefit of society.
The scientific potential of Kyrgyzstan is concentrated in 73 independent scientific and technical institutions, organizations, enterprises, higher educational institutions, research and production centers, and temporary creative teams.
The main components are:
1. Research institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
2. Sectoral research institutions of ministries and departments of the Kyrgyz Republic.
3. Research institutions at higher educational institutions.
4. Research and production centers.
5. Temporary creative scientific teams and individual scientists.
The academic sector of science is mainly concentrated in the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (NAS KR), which unites 25 research institutes and centers.
The highest qualified level of specialists is in the academic and university sectors of science. The largest share of highly qualified specialists (doctors and candidates of science) is in medical sciences, natural sciences, agriculture and technology.
Today, many research structures of the republic have established direct, direct connections with foreign scientific organizations and scientific and technical workers.
