Day of Agricultural Workers of Ukraine (20/11)

Day of Agricultural Workers (Ukrainian. «Silsky Domination Day» is celebrated in Ukraine annually on the third Sunday of November in accordance with Presidential Decree №428/93 of October 7, 1993.

This is a professional holiday for agricultural workers, enterprises processing agricultural raw materials, the food industry, procurement and service enterprises and organizations of the agro-industrial complex.

The tradition of celebrating the professional holiday of workers in this industry on this day has been preserved since Soviet times, when by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1988, the third Sunday of November became the Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers. Ukraine, after gaining independence, decided to preserve this tradition, and «in support of the initiative of workers of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine» at the legislative level, the third Sunday of November was set as the date of celebration.

In the era of the existence of the Soviet Union, Ukraine was called the «-year-old state. The main products of agricultural production in Ukraine were and remain sugar beets, potatoes, milk, meat, and grain.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, reforms began in agriculture and the agricultural sector. For concerted and clear work in the reform process, it was necessary to identify new tasks, mechanisms and control bodies. In connection with the new tasks, the Decree of the President of Ukraine of June 7, 2000 approved the Regulations on the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.

Today, the development of the agricultural sector continues in Ukraine. After all, the economic independence of the country, the well-being of its citizens, the health of the nation, and the well-being of current and future generations directly depend on the state of affairs in this industry.

On this day, Ukrainian agricultural workers are not only congratulated on their professional holiday, but also awarded various gifts and awards to the most distinguished of them.
