Artist's Day of Ukraine (09/10)

Every year on the second Sunday of October, Ukraine celebrates Artist Day (Ukrainian). «Artist's Day»). This professional holiday was established by Decree of the President of Ukraine № 1132/98 of October 9, 1998.

The initiative to establish a new holiday was made by figures of the Union of Artists of Ukraine, and the Decree itself notes that Artist Day was established taking into account the role of Ukrainian artists in the development of Ukrainian fine art and the revival of national traditions in artistic creativity«.

Fine art is one of the most advanced forms of activity, since the inner world of a person crystallizes in the artistic palette and the colors of deep feelings sound. The works of artists awaken the desire for beauty and encourage people to think about the essence of existence.

Ukrainian masters of brushes and incisors own works that have become part of the golden fund of world fine arts. Caringly preserving and developing the traditions of an original national art school, they affirm eternal universal human values and bring people the joy of communicating with beauty.

The works of recognized classics of Ukrainian painting — Nikolai Glushchenko, Viktor Zaretsky, Joseph Bokshay, Adalbert Erdeli, Alexander Gnilitsky, Alexander Roitburd, Anatoly Krivolap, Sergei Zhivotkov, Vasily Tsagolov — are known and revered far beyond the borders of Ukraine.

It has become a tradition in recent years to award Ukrainian painters with state awards and titles on this day — « Honored Artist of Ukraine», «Honored Artist of Ukraine», «People's Artist of Ukraine». Also dedicated to this day, exhibitions of works of fine art were held in various exhibition halls and museums of Ukraine.
