Professional holiday Day of workers of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine (Ukr. Day of Pratsіvnikіv state sanitary and epidemiological service) was established by Presidential Decree No. 1178/2004 dated October 5, 2004 - in recognition of the significant contribution sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. It is celebrated annually on the second Sunday in October.
SES of Ukraine has been functioning for almost a century and is a very important supervisory body in the country.
State sanitary and epidemiological supervision covers all spheres of human life: living conditions, work, nutrition, recreation, education and study of children and adolescents. Therefore, the sanitary and epidemiological service occupies a key position in the country's health care system.
For more than 80 years, the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine has been an effective component of the healthcare sector, which ensures the implementation of state policy in the field of preventive medicine, guards the health and working capacity of people, and protects them from dangerous infectious diseases.
