Teacher's Day — professional holiday of education workers — is celebrated in a number of countries of the post-Soviet space on the first Sunday of October.
The history of the holiday dates back to 1965, when, during the era of the existence of the USSR, it was celebrated everywhere in all Republics of the Soviet Union in accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated September 29, 1965 (and confirmed by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated October 1, 1980 « About festive and memorable dates » ).
After the collapse of the USSR, Teacher's Day continues to be celebrated in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia, and Ukraine on the first Sunday of October.
Teacher's Day — is one of the most favorite professional holidays. On this day, teachers accept greetings from their pupils, who give them flowers and gifts, arrange concerts, draw colorful wall newspapers and, according to tradition, hold Self-Government Day in many schools.
Teacher — is not only a person of educational sciences, but also a bearer of spirituality and morality. Teachers carry out a special civic mission — education of the younger generation. Their knowledge and experience, continuity of traditions and innovation are the basis of every school.
Today I would like to wish all teachers good health, peace, and well-being. And also the constant search for truth and knowledge, mutual understanding in the team and grateful, inquisitive students!
