Professional holiday Fire Service Worker's Day of the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzstandin ortkokarshy kyzmatkerlerinin kunu), celebrated annually on June 15, was established by Government Decree № 795 of October 28, 1994.
The date for the holiday was chosen, taking into account the petition of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and taking into account that on June 15, 1926, for the first time on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic, by decision of the regional session of the Frunz City Council, the first professional fire brigade was created in Frunze. Its staff consisted of 9 people, armed with four horse-drawn carriages and one vehicle. A similar service appeared in the south of the republic three years later, in 1929.
By the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Kyrgyz firefighters were armed with 22 vehicles, 26 motor pumps and 755 hand pumps.
Since the Republic's independence in 1991, a state fire service has been formed. Over the years of work, the country's firefighters have extinguished tens of thousands of fires, during which, unfortunately, there were casualties, many people received injuries and burns of varying severity. Damage from these fires exceeded 1.5 billion soms. But at the same time, during this period, firefighters rescued thousands of people and preserved property worth about 16 billion soms.
The main causes of fires are careless handling of fire, pranks of children and violation of fire safety rules when operating electrical equipment. Statistics show that more than 60% of fires occur annually in the residential sector.
Today, the fire service of the Republic includes 87 combat-ready units, employing more than 3 thousand firefighters. And on their professional holiday, they, as well as service veterans, receive congratulations from management and colleagues, as well as the most distinguished — awards and incentives.
