Gahambar Ardvisura Anahita, celebrated on July 10, when the Sun walks along 19 degrees Cancer — is a special holiday, one of the seven Great Holidays — Gahambarov. It marks the merging of man with nature and the immersion in harmony.
The holiday is dedicated to the goddess Ardvisura Anahita, who is the embodiment of femininity, love and beauty. In Iranian mythology, she appears as the goddess of fertility and heavenly waters, which feed all springs, give rise to rivers, and make the earth flourishing and fertile.
It is believed that Ardvisura Anahita provides assistance to those who pray to her for the sending down of forces, but satisfies the requests only of those who are pure in heart and soul, denying their protection to the servants of evil. Not only people, but also Zoroastrian deities — Izeda — bow to the splendor of the beautiful Ardvisura Anahita.
Ardvisura gives people the ability to sing and is associated with art, music and artistry. She also acts as a patroness and protector of children.
This day is also called Water Dedication. Water from natural sources acquires the ability to cleanse sins, so on this holiday it is necessary to swim in open reservoirs.
After bathing rituals, they put on new clothes, weave wreaths, tell fortunes by lilies, shower the threshold of the home with — flowers for happiness and wealth.
