Day of Azerbaijani Police Officers (02/07)

Azerbaijan Police Workers Day — is a professional holiday for law enforcement officers of the Republic, celebrated annually on July 2.

The date for establishing the holiday was chosen due to the fact that on this day in 1918 the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic signed the «Circular on personnel appointments in the police». This document became the basis for the creation of a national police force for a young independent state. Since then, this date has been considered the birthday of the Azerbaijani police.

The Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan «On Police» M727-IQ dated October 28, 1999 defines the police as follows: a single centralized law enforcement agency, part of the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and belonging to the executive power of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Police legislation consists of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the above law «On Police», other regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, international treaties supported by the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In 2018, the Azerbaijani police celebrated the 100th anniversary of their activities. The personnel of the Internal Affairs bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan have exceptional merit in strengthening statehood, ensuring the strengthening of independence, and have also achieved great success in activities aimed at taking control of the crime situation and ensuring public safety.

On this day, Azerbaijan congratulates on their professional holiday and honors all employees and veterans of the Azerbaijani police and, of course, remembers police officers who died in the line of duty.
