Twelfth night ends Yule. Twelfth Night — is the night of the birth of a new year, a new life cycle.
On the twelfth night, the gates of the worlds are open, and all their inhabitants gather at the place where Yule is celebrated to greet new life with a cheerful feast. It is believed that this is the most peaceful time of the year, when even evil spirits deserve respect, greeting and festive treats.
There is a belief that candles in Yule's wreath should burn all night. Burning candles, their light and warmth will bring happiness and good luck to the house.
The day after Twelfth Night was considered «Day of Destiny». The new, returned sun is again above the horizon, the day is increasing. Everything that was said and done before sunset determined all the events of the coming year. This is where, perhaps, the famous saying — comes from: how you celebrate the New Year is how you will spend it.
It was believed that there were no truer signs than those revealed during Twelfth Night. By the way, the words that were spoken on Twelfth Night have the greatest power.
