On the second Sunday of December, Ukraine celebrates Charity Day (Ukrainian). «Blessed Day»). This national holiday, dedicated to all people involved in charitable activities, was established by Decree of the President of Ukraine V. Yushchenko № 1220/2007 dated December 13, 2007 and has been celebrated annually since then.
The holiday was established with the aim of establishing the principles of humanism and mercy, promoting the development of charitable activities and in support of the initiative of public organizations.
The meaning of the word «charity» is probably clear to every person. Do good — that is, provide free assistance to those who need it. Charity is provided voluntarily in any acceptable form: performing any work or providing services, donating property, providing financial support.
Charity can be carried out by individuals or organizations, charitable foundations.
Let us remind you that another day of mercy has been established in Ukraine — is Adoption Day, celebrated annually in September.
