Senor de Luren Festival in Peru (17/10)

The Señor de Luren Festival is celebrated in Ica in the third week of October.

In Ica, a city located 300 kilometers from the capital of Peru —, Lima, a religious procession is taking place in honor of the city's patron Jesus Christ, which attracts a large number of local residents and tourists, and colorful fairs, games and other entertainment events are organized.

On the main day of the celebration, the image of Christ (Señor de Luren) is carried throughout the city from dusk until dawn the next day.

The origin of this holiday dates back to 1570, when the crucifixion of Jesus Christ — patron Ica — was mysteriously lost in the desert and then found in a place called Luren.
