Celebrating National Youth Day in Cameroon (French. The Fête de la Jeunesse is indisputable evidence of recognition of the important role played by the younger generation in the political, economic and cultural events of the state.
This youth holiday has been celebrated in the country since 1962, after the reunification of both parts of Cameroon took place.
Since 1967, Youth Day in Cameroon has been considered a national event, formalizing the important role played by youth in society.
As a rule, National Youth Day is preceded by Youth Week, which has been held under various slogans year after year since 1967. Current themes of the Day are the problems of the fight against AIDS, the responsibility and future of Cameroon, entrepreneurship and many others.
The popularity of this holiday is extremely high — holiday serves as a powerful incentive to intensify the achievements of young people, to expand international horizons and conduct new dialogues, in order to cultivate in the minds of the younger generation such qualities as respect, justice and honesty.
Let us remind you that International Youth Day is celebrated annually on August 12, and Russian Youth Day — is celebrated on the last Saturday of June.
