On August 13, the fair half of Tunisia celebrates its holiday — Women's Day in Tunisia.
On this day, the independence of women and the recognition of their contribution to the development of the nation is celebrated, on August 13, 1956, the Personal Status Code (CPS) was adopted, recognizing women as subjects of law. In honor of this event, a national women's holiday was established.
This document gave women rights and established their social place in society. For example, polygamy was abolished, a judicial divorce procedure was created, and marriage became possible only by mutual agreement of both parties. In 1993, several changes were made to the Code and women were given the right to represent their children in court, as well as the right to pass on their nationality and inheritance to their children to the same extent as husbands.
The Code has significantly changed the lives of Tunisian women. It is not surprising that the anniversary of its adoption is celebrated at the state level as a national holiday.
Women in Tunisia receive a lot of attention. And it’s not for nothing that — is a woman and the keeper of the hearth, and a mother, and a wife, and all the order in the house rests on her fragile shoulders. Therefore, much attention is paid to the moral education of a woman, almost from her very birth. Even at school, girls have a certain form of clothing; boys do not have —. A man is a polygamous creature, this is well understood here; and a woman is the basis of all foundations.
