National Currency Day — tenge in Kazakhstan (15/11)

National Currency Day — tenge and the professional holiday of employees of the country's financial system are celebrated in Kazakhstan annually on November 15, according to Law «On holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan».

Kazakhstani tenge (Kazakhstan tengesi) — is the national currency of Kazakhstan. On banknotes and coins the designation «tenge» (Kazakh tenge) is adopted. This name comes from the medieval Turkic silver coins «denge» or «tanga».

On November 12, 1993, a decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On the introduction of the national currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan» was issued. Which, by the way, allowed the state to also begin the formation of a full-fledged banking sector.

On November 15, 1993, the tenge entered circulation. Since then, this day has been considered the official National Currency Day. Today, the tenge is the economic basis of independence, a symbol of sovereignty, a full part of the modern history and future of Kazakhstan.

November 15 in the country is also considered a professional holiday for employees of the financial system of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is confirmed in the Appendix to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 164 of October 20, 2011 «List of professional and other holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan».
