Day of State Symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan (04/06)

On June 4, 1992, new state symbols of independent Kazakhstan were approved. This day will forever remain in the history of the country as the birthday of new state symbols.

State symbols — is one of the unshakable foundations of the state. A blue flag with a golden sun and a soaring silhouette of an eagle and a coat of arms, in the center of which is the image of a shanyrak, as a symbol of a common home for all Kazakhstanis, showed the world the image of a new independent State called the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In accordance with Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 337 of June 4, 2007 «On introducing an addition to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 20, 1998 №382 «On professional and other holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan»», the Day of State Symbols is celebrated in the republic on June 4.

The coat of arms of Kazakhstan is shaped like a circle. In the world, the most perfect form is considered to be the shape of a ball. The circle, as an element of heraldry, has application everywhere, but it is in special honor and respect among Eastern nomads. This is a symbol of life, eternity.

The central element that incorporates the main idea of the coat of arms of the Republic is the shanyrak — circular pommel of the yurt dome. Shanyrak — symbol of family well-being, peace, tranquility. Tundyk — is the zenith hole of the yurt, reminiscent of the bright sun against the backdrop of a blue, peaceful sky. Dome poles — uyk, evenly diverging from the center along the blue space of the coat of arms, resemble the rays of the sun — the source of life and warmth.

The authors managed to solve the problem of depicting the kerege — sliding lattice bases of the yurt. The cross-shaped, triple kuldreushi of the shanyrak symbolizes the unity of the three zhuzes, which ensures its strength.

Today's coat of arms of sovereign Kazakhstan is the result of the work and creative quest of two famous architects: Zhandarbek Malibekov and Shota Ualikhanov. Winning this competition was not easy. Suffice it to remind you that 245 projects and 67 descriptions of the future coat of arms took part in the final competition alone.

They call on all peoples of the republic to unite under a common shanyrak, to strive to turn into strong, powerful load-bearing structures of our common house — of Kazakhstan. The next component of the compositional structure of the coat of arms are goldwings with crescent-shaped horns, fantastic horses — tulpars. Although the depiction of Argamaks in state symbols has a long history, nevertheless, this version of the authors caused great discussion and controversy before it was adopted.

The silhouette of horses in the language of heraldists has deep meaning and content. It means: the fearlessness of the lion, the insight of the falcon, the physical power and strength of the bull, the speed, speed and plasticity of the fallow deer, the cunning and resourcefulness of the fox in the fight against enemies. The golden wings of horses also resemble sheaves of grain, golden ears, that is, a sign of labor, abundance and material well-being.

In the center of the coat of arms is a five-pointed star. The heart and arms are open to representatives of all five continents. The color scheme of the coat of arms consists of two main colors — golden and blue. The first corresponds to a bright, clear future for the peoples of the country. The blue sky is one for all the peoples of the world. Its color in the coat of arms personifies Kazakhstan’s desire for peace, harmony, friendship and unity with all peoples of the planet.

Also among the state symbols of Kazakhstan is the national anthem, which since January 2006 has been the song «My Kazakhstan» (Menin Kazakhstan).

On the holiday itself, in many cities of the Republic and in various government agencies, ceremonial events with congratulatory speeches by government officials and heads of institutions and festive concerts are held.
