In many countries around the world, on the second Friday of October, World Egg Day is celebrated — is a holiday for all lovers of eggs, omelettes, casseroles and icing…
There is nothing surprising in this. After all, — eggs are the most universal food product; they are popular in the cooking of all countries and cultures, largely due to the fact that their consumption can be very diverse.
The history of the holiday is as follows: in 1996, at a conference in Vienna, the International Egg Commission announced that the world « egg» holiday would be celebrated on the second Friday of October. The Commission convinces that there are at least a dozen reasons to celebrate Egg Day, and many countries, and especially egg producers, have readily responded to the idea of celebrating Egg Day.
Traditionally, on this day, holiday enthusiasts hold various events — family competitions on the topic of eggs (best drawing, best recipe, etc.), lectures and seminars on the benefit and proper use of this product, promotions and flash mobs. And some catering establishments are even preparing a special menu for this day, surprising visitors with the variety of egg dishes.
A lot of bad things have been said about eggs in recent decades, but recent scientific research has shown that there is absolutely no need to avoid eating eggs. They contain high-value, easily digestible protein, many nutrients the body needs, including essential vitamins and minerals, as well as antioxidants that help against certain diseases. Also, contrary to popular belief, eggs do not increase cholesterol levels. Therefore, it is very possible to eat one egg a day.

Interestingly, according to some reports, Japan is recognized as the world leader in egg consumption. Every resident of the Land of the Rising Sun eats, on average, one egg per day — in Japan there is even a famous children's song «Tamago, tamago!». The Russians are still noticeably behind in this competition. Experts believe that the reason for everything is the variety of semi-finished and instant products. Remove industrial semi-finished products from your diet, include an egg dish in one of your meals, and your health will certainly improve!
By the way, Americans express their respect for this precious product by holding Giant Omelette Days every year.
In honor of the holiday, we offer a wide variety of omelette recipes with calculated calorie content. Choose which one is right for you!
