National Spaghetti Day in the United States (04/01)

On January 4, the United States celebrates National Spaghetti Day.

Spaghetti – is a type of pasta with a round cross-section, thin and long thread-like round noodles. The first historical data about boiled noodles was found in the Jerusalem Talmud. According to this information, the Arabs invented such a dish several thousand years ago. According to the Talmudic record, pasta began to be used as food at least from the 5th century!

Today, many associate pasta with Italians, who have come up with a wide variety of forms of pasta and made it an integral part of the country's culinary traditions of – farfalle, shell, rotini, penne, tortellini, and, of course, spaghetti.

Spaghetti is the most beloved pasta in America. In 2000, £1.3 million of spaghetti was sold in American grocery stores. If all the spaghetti sold were lined up, they would encircle the Earth nine times!

Spaghetti is traditionally served with tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese, but not only. Popular recipes include meat, garlic, butter, pepper, herbs and many other components. There are even sweet sauces with chocolate and vanilla.
