Day of Social Protection System Workers in the Republic of Kazakhstan (30/10)

A social worker in any state – is a person directly related to achieving such a task on a national scale as caring for the well-being and well-being of citizens. In Kazakhstan, every year social workers celebrate their professional holiday on the last Sunday of October.

The social service carries out the most important of government tasks; its employees bear the responsibility of caring for citizens who find themselves in difficult life situations. This situation may be different and concern each individual citizen differently.

This includes the registration and payment of all kinds of benefits and compensation, such as pension payments, unemployment benefits, maternity benefits, disability payments, providing support to single people with disabilities in the form of attaching to them a social worker who assists in purchasing food, care for housing, as well as assistance in caring for sick people.

The scope of social protection bodies also includes caring for children left for one reason or another without parental care, orphans, control over guardianship, examination of the living conditions of minors who find themselves in difficult life situations, assistance to families who have lost their main breadwinner. Social protection – is also assistance in finding a job, support during this search. Many, many functions are performed by various government bodies that are part of the state’s social protection system.

These numerous functions in Kazakhstan are carried out by the territorial Departments of the Committee of Labor, Social Protection and Migration, the State Social Insurance Fund, and the successful implementation of tasks is facilitated by the introduction of unified electronic information systems and databases. The infrastructure of institutions involved in the social protection system is being updated: medical institutions are being modernized, new medical equipment is being purchased, and the electronic system of public services is being developed.

In the Republic of Kazakhstan, regular celebrations of the professional holiday of social workers began on the last Sunday of October in 2011 after changes were made to the list of professional holidays in Kazakhstan by Decree of the President of the Republic dated October 20, 2011. Since then, every year at conferences, festive concerts and events held on this day, the most distinguished employees of the social protection service are awarded certificates of honor, letters of gratitude, «Excellence in the social and labor sphere» signs and valuable gifts.

The work is very specific, requiring not only theoretical knowledge, but also communication skills, compassion, psychological endurance, and patience. Although, by far, the best reward for a person employed in such a work area – is the gratitude of those who received help or even the grateful gaze of a person who cannot say anything.
