Varuthini Ekadashi (26/04)

Ancient India is known not so much for the law of Karma as for the highest standards of ethics and behavior in society. The action ( and in ancient Sanskrit « action » is indicated by the word « karma » ) — is what can both elevate a person and lower it. Since the action is performed by the person himself, his further fate is in his own hands.

Thus, the law of Karma — is not fatalism, but a scientific approach to the subtle laws of the universe, which takes into account not so much external action as its purpose and motive. By participating in the holiday, a person is fully involved in activities, on the one hand, burning the consequences of past mistakes and misconduct, on the other, — exalting and shaping the most prosperous future.

In accordance with ancient tradition, the celebration of Varuthini Ekadashi ( Varuthini Ekadashi ) is described as follows. Firstly, celebration can make it easier or completely relieve a person of suffering, and secondly, celebration can become the foundation for achieving the constancy of a lucky and happy life. The Ancient Vedas read: « All the benefits of observing asceticism and repentance for a thousand years are achieved by those who celebrate Varuthini Ekadashi ».

It is better to sacrifice an elephant than a horse, but sacrificing the earth is even better than an elephant. Donating sesame seeds is even higher, but give gold above it. However, it is better to distribute gold to distribute cereals, since all ancestors, demigods and people are satisfied, tasting them. Only two actions are considered equal in power: to distribute cows and marry a young girl to a worthy person. However, the best donation and best charity is the transfer of spiritual knowledge to someone who seeks to get rid of all the shortcomings.

The fame of Varuthini Ekadashi is that the good of all these actions is achieved by the one who fasts on this holiday. So, for example, King Mandhata was freed, correctly observing this Ekadashi, and King Dhundhumar in the Ikshvaku dynasty got rid of leprosy caused by the curse of Lord Shiva.

Keeping up a post in Varuthini Ekadashi is so powerful that the good of fasting even exceeds the reward of the one who distributes gold at the pilgrimage site of Kurukshtra during a solar eclipse. The distribution of gold, like visiting a holy place, is in itself a sacrifice. There is no doubt that observing Ekadashi with faith and devotion will achieve even the highest goal.

Still quite seriously take the fact that on the day before Ekadashi, any kind of peas, beans and lentils, as well as millet, spinach and honey, should be avoided. Traditionally, the day before Varuthini, Ekadashi is not eaten in other people's houses, they do not eat more than once and refrain from sex. On the holiday itself, it is customary to refrain from gambling, sports, daytime sleep. It is recommended to avoid bloodshed ( they do not even recommend brush your teeth! ), and therefore you do not need to spread rumors, find fault, speak with unbalanced people.

According to legend, worshiping the Lord Janardana on the feast of Varuthini Ekadashi and awake all night will be freed from all sins and reach the spiritual abode.
