Nutritionist Day — is a new holiday; it is celebrated on March 28, the day the IT platform for nutritionists Nutrify — of the Israeli representative office of Nutrient Planner was launched to a wide audience.

The initiator of the holiday was Julia Khodos, Founder of Nutrify and partner of Nutrient Planner.

The profession of a nutritionist is becoming increasingly popular, and the holiday is intended to explain its features and objectives.

Until 2023, nutritionists celebrated their professional holiday on March 10, on Dietitian Day –, after all, nutritionists and nutritionists are engaged in similar tasks, and help people select a suitable diet.

But still, these are two different areas of activity, and it is very important to understand it in order to draw the right conclusions about what kind of specialist you need.

Nutritionology studies the nutritional characteristics and physiology of absorption of substances by the body of a healthy person, selects a suitable personal diet and food, taking into account needs depending on gender, age, physical activity, lifestyle, family eating habits and possible prevention of diseases associated with poor balance of nutrients and helps maintain health.



Dietetics deals with the nutrition of a sick person and helps him restore lost health through a therapeutic diet.

The main task of a nutritionist – is to help treat the disease using a special diet.

Only a doctor with a higher medical education can be a nutritionist. You can become a nutritionist by taking professional retraining courses.

Both nutritionists and nutritionists study human anatomy, physiology, and microbiology. Nutritionists then specialize in biological value and food safety assessment, dieting and eating habits, nutrition at different times of life, and different physical activities in healthy people.

And nutritionists delve deeper into medicine, gaining all the basic knowledge of health pathology, and only then, in an internship or residency in nutrition, they study disciplines in therapeutic and therapeutic nutrition, drug and diet therapy of diseases, receiving clinical practice during the training period. The doctor has more thorough training, but it is focused not on prevention, but on pathology. As a rule, a doctor does not deal with healthy people or prevention.

A nutritionist cannot work with sick people without the control of the attending physician, since he has no training in the field of medicine, nutrition, and no clinical practice.

But he has high competencies in matters of maintaining health, improving it by correcting eating habits and lifestyle, individual selection of suitable products and diet. And this is a strategy that allows you to preserve energy, performance, well-being, youth, and simply the joy of life longer.
