Peterborough Beer Festival (23/08)

Peterborough Beer Festival — is the UK's second largest beer festival. It takes place in a small town in the east of England annually in the second half of August.

Tens of thousands of people come to the festival, so the city's population increases several times, but not for long, because this joy for beer gourmets lasts only 5 days.

The festival not only presents all types of world beer (each brand has its own sales tent), but also a varied menu. In addition to beer, you can also try cider and pear cider, for which the British even came up with their own name, Perrie.

Each festival participant enjoys live music, exclusive glasses (a new collection each year), an entertainment program, a lottery and celebrations until the morning.

The pavilion where the festival takes place is essentially a — small town, because it has everything: from the hospital and the post office to playgrounds and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute! Apparently, so that satisfied and cheerful guests of the festival do not swim in beer.

And swimming (and even drowning) is just something — traditionally presents at the festival more than 450 types of ale made from 100 different types of brewer's yeast.

If someone really likes some unique variety, then — votes for it, after which, as at every festival, the brewing champion is determined. The champion then treats the guests to his excellent beer, so voting is always carried out with interest, and his results are eagerly awaited.

In addition to electing a champion, or rather, if some beer manufacturer is unlucky enough to become a champion, the Best New Brewery is elected.

But also for a reason, and if this time he does not have to go broke with the crowd present, then next year the festival will not be complete without a new type of beer brewed by the Best New Factory.

Speaking about the history of the festival, it is worth mentioning that it turned 40 years old in 2017, and it was invented by the British company «Natural Ela» — Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), which has existed and been valued since 1970.

There are also Rules for survival at the — festival they are extensive, but the 3 most important ones can be identified: 1. Don't forget to eat (in sunny conditions and increased consumption of strong beer). 2. Don't forget to drink (water this time!). 3. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
