World Nutella Day, Sugar Cookie Day, World Candy and Ice Cream Days, International Pizza, Dessert Days... Holidays for every gastronomic taste and preference. January 23 – in the same piggy bank. This day is World Pie Day.
The holiday, despite its international status (after all, pies are baked and loved everywhere), is unofficial. A number of open sources, pointing to the location of the holiday, refer to the decision of an American organization aimed at preserving the traditions of preparing the national pie in all its varieties. The name of this organization is consonant with its goals and essence: the American Pie Council or the American Pie Council.
One way or another, it was from the USA that the date of January 23 came, which became a symbol of honoring this incredibly popular culinary dish around the world. The American Pie Council has been sponsoring National Pie Day for more than 30 years, and also holds the National Pie Championship in the United States, in which bakers of various levels take part: from amateurs to professionals.
Don’t think that pie – is the national dish of a particular people. This is due to the variety of recipes for preparing the dough and filling, as well as baking methods. In the culture of many peoples you can find unique and unique taste recipes for pies. The whole world knows such concepts as Russian pies, Ossetian pies, French quiche and tart, German plum pie, Arabic martabak, etc.
In Rus', pies have been considered a symbol of hospitality from time immemorial; baking pies for a woman often became one of the tests before marriage, demonstrating to the groom and his relatives the homeliness of the future owner.

Pie dough allows you to satisfy a wide variety of preferences. It can be yeast, yeast-free, layered, biscuit, sandy. In their shape, pies can be completely different, when, along with the classic requirements for their appearance, a culinary specialist can give free rein to his imagination and present real masterpieces to tasters. Pies can be open, semi-open and closed. They can be baked, or they can be fried.
The filling for the pie is also incredibly varied: berries, fruits, jam and jams, chocolate and even a number of vegetables can be used for sweet pies. However, in addition to sweets, there are also so-called hearty pies, the variety of filling of which is no less: vegetables, meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese separately and in different combinations give an exclusively unique taste.
Anyone wishing to join the celebration of World Pie Day is invited to bake their favorite pie at home or buy any pie at the bakery: already familiar or new, which you have never tried before. In the evening, as the whole family gathers at the table, appreciate the taste of the prepared or purchased pie over a cup of tea – this will be the best way to celebrate World Pie Day.
